1:20pm...

Saturdays with Dr. Pauly: Tournament began with 33 runners. I'm seated at my brother's table.

Event #13 2.5K NL: From the press box, I can see Tim Vance, Maridu, Bond18, Lee Jones, and Rafe Furst. Maridu is blowing kisses at me. Jerry Yang eliminated; Former WSOP champions (Jamie Gold, Jesus, and Carlos Mortensen) are among the chipleaders along with Michael Craig.

2:25pm...

Staurdays with Dr. Pauly: At the break, 18 players left and Change100 was the chipleader. On the first hand after the break, I busted in 18th place. Cooler. I potted from the small blind. Bi Blind re-raised me all in. I called with Ks-10d-10c-8h. Trigonzo had Ah-Ac-7s-5h. We both flopped sets. I couldn't quad up and I was out.

Several friends dropped by the Rio to say hello and check out the action. StB wanted to meet Benjo.

3:22pm..

Event #11 Shootout: 36 started the day. A few players already busted such as Tony G, Erik Seidel, Joe Sebok, and Isaac Haxton.

Event #12 Limit: Day 2 started and Vinnie Vinh is among the Top 10 in chips.

Saturdays with Dr. Pauly: Down to the final three. PokerShrink made the money.

Over in the Belmont Stakes, the final leg of the triple crown is about to go off. Big Brown is a lock to win it.

Eskimo Watch: Benjo spotted Eskimo playing 10/20 limit cash games. He had a stack worth about $400.

4:20pm...

Today's smoke break is brought to you by PokerTechReviews. Stay tuned for their launch. In the meantime, check out their blog.

Saturdays with Dr. Pauly: Sydney 8 won this week and beat trigonzo heads up. Congrats!

Well, Big Brown went busto in the Belmont Stakes and finished in last place. No triple crown. Of course, California Jen bet on the long shot, Da'Tara at 38-1. She placed a $20 bet on the horse... and won. Nice score!

5:21pm...

Photo of the WSOP? Benjo took this pic of Gobboboy and Howard Lederer moments ago in the hallway...

photo credit: Benjo

I love the look on Lederer's face.

The PPA booth has a meet and greet with photo ops featuring different pros. Today it was Howard Lederer's turn to work the booth. Benjo was walking by when he spotted a bunch of tourists in line waiting to get their photo taken with Lederer. Gobboboy was also in line. His friends were eagerly awaiting the confrontation between Gobbo and Lederer. The significance? Several months ago Gobboboy wrote Full Tilt asking for sponsorship consideration during the 2008 Aussie Millions (he was runner up in 2007). Gobboboy was shot down because he looked like "a freak and a weird dude." Here's the infamous 2+2 thread.

Celebrity Sightings: I spotted Jerry Buss in the hallway last night. He's here again today, along with Montel Williams.

The Vanity Plate of the Day has to go to the guy from Idaho who had "ONADRAW."

As I wandered through the hallway, one guy was on his phone deep into negotiations. "So what do you want? 5% or 10%? Better take a piece quick, because I'm running hot."

6:53pm...

Event #9 Shorthanded Final Table: Down to 4. F Train was covering it and said it was the tightest table ever. They only saw like 15 flops in 100+ hands.

Event #10 Stud8/O8 Final Table: Six players remaining. The Grinder busted out in 8th place.

Event #11 5K Shootout: Greg Mueller and Leo Wolpert won their respective tables today and advanced to the final table. Four more shootout tables remaining. John Juanda is still alive

Event #12 Limit: Under 100 players left. Vinnie Vinh is still alive and Top 20 in chips.

Event #13 $2.5K NL: Tony "Bond18" Dunst just busted from the event. Lina Olofsson busted out bad beat too. Runner runner flushed. NeverWin, Jesus, Michael Craig, Court Harrington, Paul Waskica, and Micon are still left.

Event #14 10K Stud: The big names are out in force for the Championship Stud event... Annie Duke made her first (I think) appearance at the WSOP. Also in the field were Phil Ivey, Jen Harman, Daniel Negreanu, Carlos Mortensen, Barry Greenstien, Andy Bloch, Scotty Nguyen, Thor Hansen, Alex Ktanchenko, Ted Forrest, Cyndy Violette, Jerry Buss and Shannon Elizabeth (who is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of her league here.)

Besides the gang of Tao of Poker, LasVegasVegas, Wicked Chops Poker, and Pokerati, there are a slew of other friends of mine at the WSOP working for different outlets. They might not always get the recognition that they deserve for their hard work during the WSOP but here's where you can find their poker/personal blogs. I blatantly cut and paste the following links and descriptions from Pokerati in a post he wrote called World Series of Poker Blogs...
Poker Shrink — he runs the show now at my old PokerBlog stomping grounds, and though I haven’t yet seen his shiny orb around these parts, he always has something informative to say, and a cutting way to say it.

Change100 — A friend with weed is a friend indeed... and this PokerNews reporter always has the good Hollywood insight to share.

Benjo — aka the Angry Frenchman; I have no idea what his blog says, but it’s often fun to read the Google translation of it.

Snoopy — This limey mate has a great take on the game, and new hair to boot — capable of fourth-level thinking and comes up with headlines like "Throw Juanda down the Well."

Michele Lewis — Wicked Chops probably got the best of it in our trade of Fresh Princess and a blogger to be named later for, um, nothing... but that doesn’t mean we don’t still love her sassy-mom takes on the game.

Pokerfolio — Steve Hall aka Foiled COup doesn’t need a big camera to scope out the WSOP hotties, but he may need a new webhost.

Spaceman – Jason Kirk can’t seem to leave the poker world no matter how hard he tries, and while he’s not blogging for PokerListings this year, he occasionally keeps us posted on real life.

Hardboiled Poker – Short-stacked Shamus is an absolute must-read; he’s a rookie on the PokerNews WSOP reporting scene, but as he’s proved with his own blog since getting on the blogging train late in the game, sometimes new=fresh, and he gives more to really think about per word than just about anyone else out there.

Haley – The managing editrix of PokerNews is 0-and-1 on prop bets with Dan this year, but that doesn’t mean she’s still not a smartaholic; heck, she even knows who The Batfaces are.

Mean Gene — The most celebrated poker blogger in all of Pittsburgh makes the annual pilgrimage to the WSOP again, and nobody knows how to have more All-American fun while doing a top-quality job than this PokerNews tourney reporter.

And for a list of players who are also blogging their experiences, check out Up for Poker’s WSOP blog-guide.
I also wanna add F Train, Tassie Devil, and Terrence Chan to that list.

9:47pm...

I took an extended dinner. Falstaff took myself, Change100, and Curtis for dinner at Ferraro's... one of my favorite Italian joints in Vegas. Old school. Amazing.

Anyway, here's what happened since I was away from the Amazon Room...

Event #9 Shorthanded Final Table: Down to three. Two Porters left. Rep Porter has more than 50% of the chips in play.

Event #10 Stud8/O8 Final Table: Farzad Rouhani won the bracelet.

Event #11 5K Shootout: End of Day 2. Six players advanced to the final table including... Sirous Jamshidi, Greg "FBT" Mueller, Thomas Roupe, Phil Tom, Tim "TMay420" West, and Leo Wolpert.

Event #12 Limit: Tom "DonkeyBomber" Schneider cashed in 64th place. Anna "VietHottie" Wroblewski took 61st place. Terrence Chan and Erick Lindgren are chipleader.

Event #13 $2.5K NL: Several former world champions have been eliminated such as Phil Hellmuth, Robert Varkonyi, Jamie Gold, and Carlos Mortensen.

Event #14 10K Stud: Men the Master is the chipleader. Johnny World and MrSMokey1 are both busto.

* * * * *

11:03pm...

Event #9 Shorthanded Final Table: Rep Porter beat Nathan Templeton heads up for the bracelet.

Event #12 Limit: 45 players left. Erick Lindgren among the chipleaders. Vinnie Vinh is in the top 10 in chips.

Event #13 $2.5K NL: Eli Elezra near the top of the pack. Unabomber recently busted.

Event #14 10K Stud: The Stud Championshiop had the most railbirds in the room. Hellmuth took a hit when he lost a pot to Archie Karros's quads. Annie Duke, Howard Lederer, Shannon Elizabeth, Chris Reslock, and Robert Mizrachi are all seated at the same table. Chad Brown is the chipleader. 131 players remaining.

Vanity Plate Update: Just found out that the owner of "ONADRAW" is a guy that I actually know. He's Logan from Poker News.

* * * * *

12:07am...

Tom Sexton sighting in the press box. He told me several great stories about Archie Karas that I'll write up tomorrow.

* * * * *

1:08am...

A trustworthy source confirmed that Phil Ivey bet $2 million that the Lakers would win the NBA championship. That was before the final began. He's in the hole 1-0 after the Celtics took game #1. He's gonna be sweating the game big time on Sunday. FYI, I bet the Lakers in game 2. If Ivey is betting them, so am I!

* * * * *

2:23am...

Event #12: Vinnie Vinh chipleader with 20 to go. If Vinnie wins a bracelet, that has the potential to be story of the year.

Event #14 10K Stud: Play is over for the night. Chad Brown ended the day among the chipleaders. Also at the top of the leaderboard were Daniel Negreanu, Cyndy Violette, Archie 'The Greek' Karas, Erik Seidel, Alex Kravchenko, and Greg Raymer.
